Introduction
Consistency wins ratings. This is a practical system to reduce blunders and control time across phases of the game.
Phase Rules
- Opening: win the small battles—center, development, king safety. Avoid hero moves.
- Middlegame: evaluate imbalances; calculate only forcing lines.
- Endgame: activate king, fix pawns, create the passer—then calculate.
Time Budget
- Save 5 minutes for critical transitions: endgames or tactical shots.
- Use 15–30 seconds per non-critical move; conserve energy.
Blunder Reduction
- Scan checks–captures–threats before every move.
- Track typical errors: oversight, hallucination, time panic.
Tracking
After each game, classify the main error, record phase and time remaining. Build training plans from those stats.
Tools
- Use our PGN Analyzer to tag errors and export training lists.
Bottom Line
Stability is deliberate: clear rules, time budgets, and focused training turn streaks into steady progress.
